GEDA

GEDA for restaurants

One table, one ticket, one bill.

Waiters and diners send orders to the kitchen screen. The till prints the bill and takes the money, and every table at the till shows whether it is free, has an open ticket or is in the kitchen.

No card needed.

Example screen. Example floor of six tables at the till: two free, two with an open ticket, two already in the kitchen and ready to be billed.

What a restaurant floor has to get right.

  • Two waiters take an order for the same table, and the kitchen gets two tickets.

A table keeps one open ticket for its waiters. They add to it instead of starting another.

    The floor
  • A diner waits ten minutes just to be handed a menu.

They scan the code on the table and order from their own phone. No app to install.

    Order from the seat
  • A ticket gets lost between the counter and the kitchen.

Every order lands on the kitchen screen, with how long it has waited.

    The kitchen
  • The fish ran out at two o'clock and the waiters are still selling it.

Mark it sold out once. The till and the waiter's screen refuse it until you switch it back.

    The kitchen
  • The bill is added up on a notepad, and the money never reaches the drawer count.

Print the bill from the ticket, settle it at the till, and the money lands in that register's count.

    The bill

Every table, and what it's waiting for.

Add your tables once. At the till each one reads free, open or in the kitchen, and tapping it opens that table's ticket, not the walk-in cart.

  • One open ticket per table, edited by whoever is serving it
  • Waiters take orders from the Tables screen on a phone
  • A table the kitchen has started can be billed, not added to
  • The walk-in cart stays separate, so nobody's drinks land on another bill
Example screen. Example of the waiter's open order for Table 1: three dishes with quantity buttons and an update order button.

A code on the table is a menu in their hand.

Each table gets its own QR code to print. A diner scans it, picks dishes on a web page and sends the order straight to the kitchen.

  • No app for the diner: the code opens a web page
  • Print a table's code, or replace it with a new one
  • Their order shows on that table at the till, and is paid there
Example screen. Example of the menu a diner sees on their own phone after scanning the table's code: three dishes, two added, and a review order button.

The kitchen sees every order the moment it's sent.

Open the kitchen screen on any tablet or laptop with a browser. Tickets move from New to Preparing to Ready as the cooks tap them.

  • Start and Mark ready, one tap each
  • Time on every ticket, so nothing waits unseen
  • Each ticket says whether a waiter or a diner's QR code sent it
  • A dish marked sold out can't be ordered at the till
Example screen. Example kitchen screen with three columns, new, preparing and ready, one ticket in each with the table, its dishes and how long it has waited.

A bill before they pay, a receipt after.

Print the bill at the table's request. Settle it at the till in cash, mobile money or on a customer's account, and the sale is counted in that register's drawer at close.

  • The bill says plainly it is not a receipt
  • Cash, mobile money, or credit on a customer's account
  • Settled into the open register, so the close count includes it
  • A combo is one item, and sells out when one of its parts does
Example screen. Example printed bill for Table 1, four hundred and twenty Leones, marked not paid yet, with cash and mobile money as the ways to settle it at the till.

Works on the phone or laptop you have.

A sale rung up on any device shows on the owner's phone.

Questions owners ask.

Do diners need to download an app?

No. The code on the table opens a web page on their own phone.

What does the kitchen need?

Any tablet, laptop or phone with a browser, signed in to the kitchen screen.

Can a regular run a tab?

Not an open tab. At the till, a table's whole bill can go on a regular's account, the same as a credit sale at the counter.

Can I split a bill between diners?

Not yet. A table has one bill, settled in one payment.

Open the restaurant's account tonight. Seat the first table tomorrow.

Takes a couple of minutes. No card needed.
